About the Opportunity
Our client is a specialist Australian technology and consulting organisation delivering mission-critical capabilities across Defence, National Security and Federal Government environments.
Operating across a range of high-impact programs, the organisation supports clients through project delivery, specialist consulting, engineering services, cyber security, virtual reality and simulation technologies, as well as broader capability development initiatives.
As part of an exciting growth phase, they are seeking an experienced Client Director / Business Development Manager to help expand their presence across the Federal Government and Defence sectors.
The Role
This is a senior growth-focused position responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across Defence, National Security and Federal Government agencies.
The successful candidate will bring established industry relationships, a strong reputation within the Canberra market and a proven track record of winning new business and developing strategic client partnerships.
While the organisation does provide specialist resource augmentation services where appropriate, its primary focus is the delivery of consulting, project and capability outcomes that create long-term value for clients.
This role offers the opportunity to play a significant part in shaping the company's continued growth within the ACT market.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a growth strategy across Defence and Federal Government sectors.
* Leverage existing networks and relationships to identify and create new business opportunities.
* Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across government agencies and Defence organisations.
* Identify, qualify and pursue consulting, project delivery and capability-based opportunities.
* Work closely with technical and delivery teams to develop client-focused solutions.
* Lead opportunity management activities including client engagement, proposals, presentations and contract negotiations.
* Establish strategic partnerships and teaming arrangements where appropriate.
* Maintain awareness of market trends, procurement activity and upcoming programs of work.
* Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences and networking activities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* Extensive experience in business development, client management or account leadership within Defence, Federal Government or National Security environments.
* A well-established network of relationships across Canberra-based agencies and stakeholders.
* Proven success securing new business and expanding existing accounts.
* Experience selling consulting, technology services, cyber security, engineering or project delivery solutions.
* Strong commercial and strategic thinking capabilities.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
* A stable and consistent employment history demonstrating strong performance and professional credibility.
* The ability to operate independently while contributing to broader organisational objectives.
Desirable Experience
* Current NV1, NV2 or higher security clearance.
* Existing relationships across Defence, Intelligence, National Security or Federal Government agencies.
* Experience within cyber security, software engineering, systems integration, mission systems, simulation, training or emerging technology environments.
* Knowledge of Commonwealth procurement processes, panels and government buying frameworks.
