Board Directors — Voluntary Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service of South Australia Inc Voluntary Board Opportunity | South Australia | Advocacy, Human Rights and Governance Expressions of Interest now open The Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service of South Australia Inc, known as DACSSA, is seeking expressions of interest for at least two new voluntary Board Directors to strengthen its governance, diversity and lived-experience representation. This is a meaningful opportunity for people who are passionate about human rights, disability advocacy, inclusion, equality and systemic change. DACSSA is looking for people who can contribute to strong governance, strategic thinking and organisational leadership while staying grounded in the rights, voices and lived experiences of people with disability. About DACSSA DACSSA is a well-established, independent advocacy service supporting people with disability across South Australia. The organisation provides free, independent advocacy to people with disability and works to promote, protect and defend human rights. DACSSA supports individuals to exercise choice and control, raise concerns, navigate systems and have a stronger voice in the decisions that affect their lives. DACSSA is committed to inclusion, equality, choice and social justice. About the Board Director role As a voluntary Board Director, you will help guide the strategic direction, governance and long-term sustainability of DACSSA. You will contribute to Board decision-making, support organisational performance and uphold DACSSA’s values and commitment to human rights. This role is suited to people with senior leadership experience, governance knowledge, lived experience, community insight, professional expertise or a strong commitment to disability rights and systemic advocacy. Key responsibilities As a Board Director, you will: Contribute to the strategic direction and decision-making of DACSSA. Support strong governance, accountability and organisational performance. Uphold DACSSA’s values and commitment to human rights. Help ensure the organisation remains responsive to the needs and voices of people with disability. Participate in monthly Board meetings. Contribute to occasional Board committees where required. Bring thoughtful, respectful and values-based leadership to Board discussions. What matters is your commitment to DACSSA’s purpose, your ability to contribute thoughtfully, and your passion for human rights and social justice. Essential qualities DACSSA is seeking people who bring: A strong commitment to human rights and social justice. Respect for the rights, choice and control of people with disability. The ability to contribute to strategic discussion and decision-making. A willingness to work collaboratively with other Board members. Integrity, accountability and sound judgement. A commitment to inclusion, equality and systemic change. An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, good governance.
