We are seeking a National Underwriting Lead – Personal Lines to join Zurich's General Insurance Underwriting leadership team. The role reports directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer and carries national underwriting responsibility for the Personal Lines portfolio, excluding Retail Travel.
You will provide strategic and technical underwriting leadership across a diverse portfolio including Personal Motor, Pet Insurance, and future consumer products. Your responsibilities include driving underwriting excellence, portfolio performance, risk discipline, shaping strategy, and supporting sustainable growth. You will combine deep technical expertise with strong commercial acumen to influence key stakeholders and lead best practice across the business.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and ANZIIF CIP (or equivalent industry experience).
* 10+ years' experience in Personal Lines underwriting, pricing and/or portfolio management.
* Deep technical underwriting expertise with proven senior leadership capability.
* Strong commercial, financial and market acumen, including customer, digital and NPS drivers.
* Demonstrated success delivering growth, strategy execution and change in complex insurance environments.
* Comprehensive understanding of the General Insurance industry, particularly Personal Lines and direct‐to‐consumer models.
* Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high‐performing teams.
* Strong understanding of underwriting processes, and operational and financial management.
* Growth‐oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to evolving industry practices.
