About the Role
An opportunity has opened for an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join the North Queensland team, with flexibility on office location across Townsville, Mackay, and Rockhampton. This is a senior consulting role for someone ready to take genuine ownership of project delivery while contributing to the continued growth of an active and expanding regional operation.
The North Queensland team works across a varied and exciting project portfolio including renewables (wind and solar), transmission infrastructure, mining and civil projects, medium to large scale geotechnical investigations, and construction phase support. There is a clear growth agenda around temporary works and DRFA scope, meaning the successful candidate will have real opportunity to shape what this team delivers.
What you will be doing
* Leading geotechnical investigations and design from proposal through to final delivery, with accountability for technical quality and commercial compliance.
* Reviewing and finalising geotechnical reports and ground models produced by junior engineers, providing structured technical feedback and sign‐off.
* Managing full project lifecycles including scoping, quoting, and invoicing, ensuring both technical and financial objectives are met.
* Delivering foundation, retaining wall, and slope stability designs across a diverse range of ground conditions and project types.
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships across contractors, government authorities, and specialist consultants.
* Mentoring and developing junior and mid‐level engineers across the team.
* Identifying business development opportunities and contributing to the growth of the North Queensland operation.
* Ensuring compliance with QHSE systems and contributing to a positive and safe team culture.
What you will bring
* 10 or more years of experience in geotechnical consulting, with a strong track record across site investigation, design, and technical reporting.
* A consulting background with demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
* Relevant professional registration (CPEng or equivalent) or demonstrated progress toward chartered status.
* Proven capability across foundation design, slope stability, retaining structures, and geotechnical investigation.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships with confidence.
* A genuine interest in mentoring others and contributing to a high‐performing team culture.
* A current driver's licence and willingness to travel for project‐related work when required.
