About This Role
As Corporate Secretarial Manager, you will provide national leadership for Grant Thornton's corporate secretarial services offering, promoting a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence while ensuring consistency in service delivery, quality, and risk management across our national team. This role can be based in our Melbourne or Sydney office, with hybrid and flexible working options available.
Key Responsibilities
* National Leadership and Practice Oversight – Lead national planning for resourcing, workflow management, and service scalability across jurisdictions.
* Technical Expertise and Risk Management – Act as a national subject matter expert on Australian corporate governance and compliance, providing technical oversight on complex or high‐risk matters such as auditor appointments and removals.
* Regulatory Compliance – Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory changes impacting clients and the firm, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with internal risk, independence, and quality frameworks.
* Client Advisory and Relationship Management – Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and team members on governance and compliance matters, managing escalations and sensitive matters and providing day‐to‐day support to Partners with client issues, proposals, and governance‐related advisory opportunities.
* People Leadership and Capability Development – Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture aligned with Grant Thornton's values, while providing ongoing coaching, technical training, and career development opportunities for the CorpSec team.
* Service Delivery and Quality Assurance – Oversee accurate, timely national service delivery while implementing and maintaining quality assurance, peer review, and continuous improvement activities.
* Systems, Process, and Digital Enablement – Oversee effective use of corporate secretarial systems and compliance platforms (e.g., CAS 360 and ASIC registers), champion data integrity, document management, and standardised workflows across the practice.
Required Skills and Experience
* Tertiary qualification(s) in Accounting, Commerce, Corporate Governance, Law, or another relevant discipline.
* Significant experience in company secretarial, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance services in a professional services or consulting environment.
* Strong working knowledge of Australian corporate and regulatory frameworks, including the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
* Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally managing teams across multiple locations or jurisdictions.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with commercial awareness and the ability to balance compliance, efficiency, and client service.
* High attention to detail, strong judgement, and a proactive risk mindset.
Desirable Qualifications
* Governance or company secretarial qualification(s) (e.g., Governance Institute of Australia).
