Job Role
This position oversees day-to-day drilling activities and personnel ensuring mine safety and production targets are achieved efficiently. As a key member of the team, you will oversee the planning and execution of drilling operations, managing resources and personnel to achieve optimal results.
Responsibilities
1. Oversight of drilling and associated activities in accordance with the plan as directed by the Drill & Blast Coordinator.
2. Management of all safety aspects of drilling operations and maintenance of a safe workplace using business processes and tools.
3. Resource management and manning levels to ensure sufficient quantity and quality of drilled stock is safely achieved.
4. Evaluation of drill & blast patterns and maintenance of equipment in a safe condition.
5. Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality outputs are achieved at all times.
6. Provision of ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports.
7. Driving of drilling techniques and procedures that promote zero harm and improve performance and cost efficiencies.
8. Ensuring work carried out by Drillers and Drill Technicians meets suitable standards.
9. Maintenance and review of drill consumables.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Previous drilling experience essential.
* Minimum C class manual driver's license and relevant tickets.
* Previous supervisory experience and ability to read and understand mine plans.
* Knowledge of the WHS Act and WHS (Mines) regulations, along with a strong commitment to safety.
* Effective communication skills and ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
* Understanding of/exposure to fleet management systems.
* Previous experience with incident investigation and/or risk assessment processes highly regarded.
