Your new role
The APS5 Records & FOI Officer role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for process improvement and compliance. This is a 6-month hourly rate contract with the possibility of a 6-month extension.
As the Records & FOI Officer, you will:
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the agency's records management system in line with established procedures.
* Provide expert advice to staff on records management practices.
* Contribute to the regular review and update of records-related processes and manuals.
* Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting activities.
* Implement a new record structure aligned with APS classification schemes.
* Assist with the migration of records from Content Manager to SharePoint, working closely with relevant stakeholders.
* Coordinate and manage FOI requests, ensuring statutory timeframes and legal obligations are met.
* Prepare formal decision letters, correspondence, briefings, and statistical reports.
* Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal Services Branch, to support FOI coordination.
* Assist with internal and external FOI review and complaint processes.
* Support governance, assurance, and continuous improvement of FOI practices.
* Perform other duties as required within the Operations Branch.
What you'll need to succeed
This role requires prior experience within the APS at the APS5 level.
To succeed in this role, you will:
* Experience in records management and/or FOI coordination within a government or similar environment.
* Knowledge of APS records classification schemes and FOI legislation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
* High level of organisation and attention to detail.
You must be an Australian citizen and will possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a (Baseline, NV1 or NV2) personnel security clearance.
