Position Information
Colyton High School is a comprehensive high school located in the western suburbs of Sydney, near St Marys, and part of the Eastern Creek Principal's Network. The school has an enrolment of over 800 students, including 11% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, 18% English as an additional language or dialect, and 40% language background other than English. It offers a varied curriculum supported by VET opportunities and extracurricular programs. The school emphasizes technology access, student leadership, well‐being, and high‐quality learning supports for students with diverse needs.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a diverse range of additional learning needs, with a demonstrated ability to be a highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leader who develops inclusive, trusting relationships with students, families, external agencies and the wider community.
* Demonstrated ability to build teacher capacity with the design and implementation of teaching and learning programmes that meet the needs of students with a diverse range of additional learning needs.
* Demonstrated expertise in the management of student learning and behaviour, supported by adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet the goals of individual learning plans.
* Demonstrated ability to manage the organisational and administrative aspects of a growing support unit, ensuring compliance with school, Department and NESA policies.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
