Our client, a leading name in the education and childcare sector, is seeking a dedicated Business Analyst - Payroll Implementation to play a critical role in supporting the rollout of a new payroll system across Australia. About the Role Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, you'll support the implementation of a new payroll platform and ensure continuity, compliance, and efficiency across payroll operations. This hybrid role blends payroll expertise with project support, business and process analysis. Key Responsibilities Business and process analysis 1. Requirements Gathering Work with HR, finance, and IT teams to understand payroll needs. Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for payroll systems/processes. 2. Payroll System Analysis & Optimization Evaluate payroll system functionality. Recommend improvements or enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Support payroll system upgrades, migrations, or implementations. 3. Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, or errors. Generate regular and ad hoc reports for stakeholders (e.g., payroll summaries, tax compliance, audit reports). 4. Process Improvement Map current payroll processes (as-is). Design and propose optimized future-state processes (to-be). Identify automation opportunities. 5. Compliance & Controls Ensure payroll processes comply with labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. Work with audit teams on internal controls and regulatory compliance. 6. Testing & Validation Support or lead UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for payroll systems. Validate that system outputs (like pay slips, tax reports) are accurate. 7. Stakeholder Communication & Support Act as a liaison between payroll, HR, IT, and finance teams. Provide training, documentation, and support for system users. 8. Periodic Support Assist with payroll processing cycles (e.g., biweekly/monthly runs). Help resolve discrepancies or urgent payroll issues. Qualifications & Experience Required: 3 years' experience in end-to-end payroll within a high-volume environment. High numerical accuracy and a strong grasp of accounting procedures. Proven experience with Award and EBA interpretation. Familiarity with payroll systems, time & attendance platforms, and system implementation projects.
