The Athletic Director for Grades 6–12 provides leadership, organization, supervision, and oversight for all middle school and high school athletic programs. The Athletic Director is responsible for ensuring that all athletic programs operate in compliance with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) regulations, Griffith Public Schools policies, and applicable state and federal laws while promoting academic achievement, sportsmanship, student wellness, and positive community engagement.
The Athletic Director works collaboratively with district administration, principals, coaches, student-athletes, staff, parents, officials, and community members to provide a safe, equitable, and successful athletic experience for all students.

Qualifications
* Master's Degree preferred
* Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience preferred
* Previous coaching and athletic administration experience preferred
* Knowledge of IHSAA rules, regulations, and procedures
* Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage budgets, schedules, facilities, and personnel effectively
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders
* Ability to pass required criminal history background checks
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAthletic Program Leadership
* Provide leadership and supervision for all middle school and high school athletic programs and activities.
* Promote a positive culture emphasizing academics, character, sportsmanship, citizenship, teamwork, and student wellness.
* Develop and implement procedures for efficient operation of athletic programs.
* Support and promote equitable opportunities for all student-athletes.
* Attend athletic events and activities as necessary.
Compliance and Governance
* Ensure compliance with all IHSAA regulations, district policies, state laws, Title IX requirements, and applicable safety standards.
* Maintain required athletic records, reports, eligibility documentation, and participation data.
* Oversee student-athlete eligibility verification and compliance procedures.
* Coordinate and maintain all required coaching certifications and training requirements.
* Assist in the recruitment, hiring, supervision, evaluation, and support of coaching staff.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities for coaches.
* Ensure coaches maintain appropriate conduct, communication, and professionalism.
* Facilitate regular coaches' meetings and athletic department communications.
Scheduling and Event Management
* Coordinate athletic schedules, contests, tournaments, transportation, officials, and facility usage.
* Oversee game management operations for all home athletic events.
* Coordinate event supervision, security, ticketing, and crowd management procedures.
* Work collaboratively with custodial, maintenance, transportation, food service, and school administration regarding athletic events and facility needs.
Budget and Financial Oversight
* Develop and monitor athletic department budgets.
* Oversee purchasing, inventory, fundraising, and financial procedures in accordance with district policies and internal control procedures.
* Ensure proper handling and reconciliation of athletic funds and event receipts.
* Assist with long‐range planning for athletic equipment, uniforms, and facility improvements.
Communication and Community Relations
* Maintain positive communication with students, parents, staff, booster organizations, officials, media, and community members.
* Address concerns and resolve conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
* Promote athletic programs through effective communication and community engagement.
* Support and strengthen school spirit and community pride.
Student Support and Safety
* Promote student‐athlete health, safety, attendance, and academic success.
* Coordinate with school nurses, trainers, and administration regarding student‐athlete medical needs and safety procedures.
* Assist with implementation of emergency action plans and athletic safety protocols.
* Ensure appropriate supervision of students during practices, contests, and travel.
Other Responsibilities
* Coordinate athletic awards, recognitions, and banquets.
* Assist with facility planning and improvement initiatives.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Designee.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout school buildings and athletic facilities for extended periods.
* Ability to attend evening and weekend events regularly.
* Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Terms of Employment
* Salary and work calendar established by the Griffith Public Schools Board of School Trustees.
* Evening, weekend, and summer responsibilities are required.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and administrative guidelines.
