We are seeking applications for enthusiastic Technology Assistants (Industrial Arts Assistants) for roles across ACT public schools.
Technology Assistants play an important role supporting teaching and learning within school technology and industrial arts programs. This includes supporting learning areas such as woodwork, metalwork, automotive, engineering, design and digital technologies.
Working closely with teachers and school staff, they help deliver practical learning environments, ensuring lessons run smoothly and align with curriculum requirements.
In this role, you will support the delivery of a technology and industrial arts programs by preparing workspaces, materials and equipment, and assisting with the safe and effective use of tools and machinery. Your technical knowledge will support both staff and students in practical learning environments.
You will also contribute to maintaining safe, organised and well-resourced learning environments. This includes maintaining equipment, coordinating repairs, managing consumables and supporting workplace health and safety practices. You will also contribute to administrative processes and work collaboratively with staff to support positive outcomes for students.

About the role:
As a Technology Assistant (Industrial Arts Assistant), you will:
* Assist in the operations of technology and industrial arts programs, including preparing workspaces, materials and equipment to support practical lessons.
* Apply technical knowledge to support teachers and students in delivering educational programs.
* Monitor, order and replenish consumables, equipment and resources, and assist with purchasing and budget tracking.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with workplace health and safety requirements.
* Operate equipment and assist with routine maintenance and repairs as required.
* Provide general administrative support such as records management, data entry, and preparation of materials.
What we’re looking for:
* Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III (or equivalent), a First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain), or relevant trade qualification (e.g. Automotive Mechanical Technology, Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Engineering, Furniture Making or Joinery).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* A caring, student‑centred approach, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people in their learning.
* Effective teamwork and reliability, with good organisational and time‑management skills.
* An approachable personality and a professional attitude in a school environment.
Eligibility requirements:
* A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or eligibility to apply)
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid working visa.
