Factor UTB is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Treatment Plant Operator to support the operation of the newly commissioned Angle Vale Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated recycled water systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing operation during a critical early phase of plant operation. The facility is currently operating under low loading conditions, with wastewater inflows and recycled water demand expected to increase over time. You will play a key role in supporting stable plant performance, recycled water quality, operational optimisation, and ongoing commissioning and upgrade activities.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role is suited to someone with wastewater operations experience who enjoys working in a hands-on, evolving environment with strong engineering and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor wastewater and recycled water treatment processes to ensure safe, stable, and compliant performance
Conduct routine inspections, operational checks, and process observations
Monitor SCADA systems, alarms, and operational trends
Respond to operational issues in accordance with established procedures
Support biological process performance under varying hydraulic and organic loading conditions
Commissioning & Process Stabilisation
Assist with post-commissioning activities and ongoing process optimisation
Support plant performance during low and variable load operation
Monitor treatment performance as plant utilisation increases
Identify and report process risks, abnormalities, or instability
Recycled Water Operations
Operate and monitor recycled water treatment, disinfection, storage, and supply systems
Undertake routine sampling, testing, and verification activities
Maintain accurate operational and compliance records
Support compliance with SA Health recycled water approval conditions
Escalate recycled water quality or supply issues promptly
Safety & Environmental Compliance
Operate in accordance with:
Work Health & Safety requirements
EPA SA licence conditions
SA Health recycled water approvals
Factor UTB operational procedures and safety systems
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training
Identify and report hazards, near misses, and incidents
Maintenance & Operational Support
Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and operational maintenance tasks
Assist with equipment isolation and maintenance activities
Support contractors and maintenance teams working on live plant systems
Help identify early life equipment or process performance issues
Documentation & Reporting
Complete operational logs, checklists, and shift reports
Record inspection, testing, and sampling data accurately
Support regulatory reporting and audit documentation requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater) or equivalent practical experience
Experience in wastewater treatment plant operations
Exposure to recycled water treatment or supply systems (desirable)
Strong commitment to safety and compliance
Good observational and troubleshooting skills
Ability to follow operational procedures within regulated environments
Clear communication and record-keeping skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
