What You Will Be Doing
As our Governance Officer, you'll be a key player in ensuring Council's operations are compliant, transparent, and strategically aligned. You'll:
* Provide timely and accurate governance advice, interpreting legislation and guiding policy development.
* Coordinate governance reporting and compliance activities, including CEO delegations and legislative monitoring.
* Support the development and maintenance of strategic documents like the Annual Report, Operational Plan, and Service Delivery Plans.
* Research and identify funding opportunities, ensuring compliance with grant conditions and reporting.
* Assist with insurance claims, risk investigations, and business continuity planning.
* Maintain governance systems and respond to stakeholder enquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
What You Will Bring
You're a governance enthusiast with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for navigating complex legislation. You're confident, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.
Here is what we are looking for:
* Certificate IV or higher in governance, public administration, legal studies, or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience in interpreting legislation and applying governance principles.
* Strong research and analytical skills, with experience preparing strategic documents.
* Proven ability to manage insurance claims and support risk planning.
* Excellent communication skills and proficiency in corporate systems and Microsoft Office.
* A current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
Bonus points for:
* Knowledge of local government governance practices and funding processes.
* Membership with professional bodies like the Governance Institute of Australia.
