Purpose
The
Construction Manager
on this $300M+ brownfield E&C project will manage all construction of aspects of the project, including providing constructability input, planning, and managing onsite construction works throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Providing leadership to the construction team, the Construction Manager acts as the single point of accountability for the construction packages of work. You will ensure that all project construction packages are reviewed prior to sitework commencing, are constructed in a way that is compliant with the relevant WHS Act and Regulations, other relevant Australian Standards, and
all statutory requirements.
Safety leadership for the whole project team, ensuring that the project safety culture is instilled into the construction team and that risk management and safe systems of work are embedded in all aspects of the project scope.
Key to the success of this role is active communication and clear reporting linked within the
project and especially the Plant Managers.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Tertiary engineering qualification(s) with solid professional construction experience.
* 15+ years of experience managing the construction of heavy industrial processing operations (Steel, Mineral Processing, Heavy Industrial Manufacturing)
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, the environment and community.
* Experience in the development of construction strategies, risk assessments and management plans to support project deliverables.
* Strong communication, engagement and leadership skills to work at all levels, ability to adjust your approach to audience.
* Ability to work effectively in cross functional groups and promote a highly effective team.
* Project and plant risk identification and management with a particular focus on achieving a zero-harm project/outage outcome.
* Strategic planning, economic analysis and evaluation skills
* Technical writing skills, planning and organisational skills.
* Sufficiently broad understanding of engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness to allow tight integration of construction and project workstreams.
* Understanding of toll-gated approach to project development and execution.
* Preferred knowledge of slab reheat furnaces and plate processing equipment.
