The Network Support Engineer is responsible for analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating existing network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks to ensure optimal operation with minimal interruption.
Responsibilities
* Strong skills in Smarthands network device rack, stacking, patching, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
* Ability to identify network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, APs) and understand their roles and functions.
* Experience providing console access to devices, using PuTTY, working on telephonic bridges with remote engineers, and sharing console/PuTTY access via screen sharing software.
* Familiarity with rack elevations, enterprise campus MDF and IDF closets, and data center environments.
* Experience with installing and refreshing routers, switches, and APs.
* Patch cabling, power cord connections, and cable dressing in closets.
* Reliability and punctuality in an SLA-driven schedule.
* Ability to follow instructions from senior engineers, both verbal and written.
* Accuracy and reliability in following site visit procedures, communication, and protocols.
* Professional demeanor, strong communication, and client-facing skills.
* A positive attitude.
* Ability to work independently without supervision and solve unexpected technical or non-technical problems on the fly.
* Driven to deliver quality work.
Qualifications
Work Experience: Over 24 months
Language: English (written and verbal)
Sound knowledge of:
* Network equipment and software, including:
* Routers
* Switches
* Firewalls
* Load balancers
* WLAN components
* OEM portfolio, including Cisco, HP/Dell/IBM, Juniper, Bluecoat, Radware, Checkpoint, etc.
* Active Directory
* Exchange
* Apple OS
Awareness of:
* Network and server hardware and components
IT qualifications may include:
* PC/Laptop OEM Maintenance Certification
* CompTIA A+ Certification and/or CCNA skills
* Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) in desktop area
* Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification
