The Role
Experienced Driller / Senior Technician
We are looking for an experienced driller or senior technician to join our team. Ideally, you will have a background in drilling, geotechnical field investigations, or a similar hands-on role, with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate and maintain equipment.
Responsibilities
* Operate a range of drilling and testing equipment, mentor junior staff on site, and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
* Operate and take responsibility for equipment including:
o Hanjin 8D drilling machine (drilling depths typically 15 to 25 m, HQ)
o Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) rigs (track and truck-mounted) – full training provided; HR driver's license mandatory
o Small auger drill rigs on 4WD Utes
o Dual tube percussive rig with hollow auger capability
o Backhoe or excavator operation
* Perform soil logging to Australian standards and collaborate with engineering and environmental teams to deliver accurate site data.
* Think on your feet, troubleshoot in the field, and take ownership of equipment and outcomes on site.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in drilling or a similar field-based role
* Strong mechanical and repair experience, with the ability to carry out minor repairs and keep equipment operational
* Experience with Hanjin drilling rigs (highly regarded)
* Experience with diamond core drilling (preferred)
* HR truck licence (essential)
* Ability to lead or guide junior staff on site
* Australian work rights
Remuneration and Work Pattern
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience, within the $65-$70 per hour range, based on demonstrated capability across multiple rigs and techniques.
You will generally be working in Perth and the southwest of WA (and occasionally Goldfields and further north). Away work is common every second or third week on average, typically no more than 2 to 5 days at a time, but occasionally up to 2 weeks. There is no FIFO roster. You will be home most nights. Where overnight work is required, additional hours are paid as an incentive. We are generally very flexible and consider personal circumstances.
