About the Role
This permanent position offers a platform to deliver strategic legal and commercial advice across complex regulatory environments. The role is based in Sydney or Melbourne and supports brands such as Dan Murphy’s, BWS, ALH Hotels, Pinnacle Drinks and corporate functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing expert advice on AML/CTF, liquor, gaming, and tobacco regulatory requirements across Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania, with scope for other jurisdictions.
- Managing compliance enforcement matters, investigations, and resolution strategies, and representing the organisation where necessary.
- Developing trusted relationships with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies to create cohesive legal strategies and practical solutions.
- Driving effective regulator relationship management.
- Leading people management as line manager for at least one direct report.
Qualifications
- Degree in Law and Current Legal Practising Certificate.
- Minimum 8 years post‑admission experience.
- Strong expertise in regulatory advice and/or compliance/enforcement experience.
- Experience in liquor, gaming, and compliance/enforcement work.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Prior experience in a liquor or gaming business (highly regarded).
- Top‑tier firm experience (highly regarded).
- In‑house legal experience in a large, complex organisation, preferably within the liquor, gaming, or entertainment sectors (highly regarded).
