Holt Defence Precinct, located near Exmouth, Western Australia. This includes services for the maintenance and operation of critical defence infrastructure including the Space Surveillance Telescope, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Transmitter and C-Band Radar.To support our mission, Raytheon is currently seeking a motivated mechanical engineer who is ready to join a talented team of engineering professionals on-site in Exmouth. If you are ready for the next step in your career and wanting a potential sea change, then this role is for you.Reporting to the VLF Engineering Manager, the mechanical engineer will assist the Raytheon Australia engineering team with issues associated with the VLF facility and interfaces to the VLF mission systems.Key Responsibilities:Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertiseConduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.Participate in technical reviews and audits.Mentor engineering and technical staff.Skills, Experience and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience.Minimum of six years’ experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries.Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training.Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance.
