Mechanical Engineer – Alice Springs, NT, Australia
Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer at Amentum is responsible for the independent selection, evaluation, and application of relevant engineering knowledge, techniques and procedures to support the safe and effective operation, maintenance and management of facility assets, infrastructure and systems.
Responsibilities
* Perform technical studies, analyses, investigations and consultations.
* Identify, define and develop detailed requirements for facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, replacement, upgrade and/or recapitalisation.
* Design and/or develop solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the mechanical engineering discipline.
* Review and provide technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and system changes, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.
* Perform engineering calculations in support of facility infrastructure operation and design.
* Provide technical recommendations, input, direction and advice on facilities system, infrastructure and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life‐cycle management and costing.
* Develop ROM costing estimates in support of facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, upgrade, replacement and/or recapitalisation.
* Evaluate operational systems, equipment, processes and infrastructure in support of general and targeted optimisation and improvement initiatives.
* Ensure, promote and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
Qualifications
* Minimum essential: Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Desirable: Post‐graduate qualifications in any relevant discipline.
* Minimum essential experience: One year of experience with building management and control systems, facilities operation and maintenance.
* Familiarity with HVAC and hydronic systems, data centre cooling systems, building management and control systems.
* Experience with project management and leadership is desired.
Licenses and Certifications
* Minimum essential: Driver's Licence.
* Desirable: Professional Engineer (PE) / Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification.
Security Clearance
Active Top‐Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) is required. Only candidates who can obtain the appropriate level of security clearance will be considered.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Typical office environment with occasional lifting up to 10kg, kneeling, standing, walking and routine sitting. Constant use of speech and hearing abilities for communication. The role requires mental alertness and the ability to work under deadlines.
