Introducing the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAHMU), a fresh, purpose built 10-bed facility dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are navigating complex and severe mental health challenges. This state-of-the-art inpatient unit is the newest chapter in the Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYFMH) story, expanding its reach to provide compassionate, specialised care from the earliest stages of life through to young adulthood. NAHMU isn't just a place of healing, it's a vital step forward in empowering young people.
An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAMHU) at Nepean Hospital. In this role, you will work closely with adolescents experiencing acute mental health distress, undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments, contributing to care planning, and supporting recovery-oriented goals. The position involves close collaboration with carers, community services, schools and statutory bodies to ensure coordinated care, effective discharge planning and continuity of support beyond hospital admission. You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing your professional expertise to clinical reviews, family meetings and risk management processes. Working at NAMHU offers the opportunity to be part of a highly specialised service making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and their families. You will be supported through clinical supervision, professional development opportunities and the benefits of working within a large and diverse Local Health District.
