This is a UK-based role within the Consumer Engagement team, working alongside a number of other Heads of PR as part of a cross-functional PR, Social and Influencer team. Consumer Engagement is part of the wider Sky Corporate Affairs function. We are looking for a highly motivated, senior comms professional to lead a team of publicists working on key title PR campaigns across both drama and factual genres.
What you'll do:
- Lead a team of c.8 publicists and assistants working on new title launch campaigns and returning series in drama and factual genres. Take overall ownership and responsibility for all consumer and industry PR in these genres, as well as acting as the functional expert and trusted comms advisor to the business for these areas. The role is principally focussed on PR for original commissions.
- Develop annual strategy for drama and factual PR, liaising with key business members in commissioning, marketing and social functions. Work closely with Director of Comms, Content and Head of PR colleagues to ensure strategy aligns with overall Content PR approach for wider business. Set purpose and vision for team.
- Take responsibility for overall performance of title PR campaigns for drama and factual genres, ensuring campaigns are developed based on relevant consumer and audience insight, encouraging team to come up with creative and innovative tactics and media relations approaches. Ensure campaigns have clear, tangible and measurable outcomes.
- Be a senior people leader within Consumer Engagement, able to motivate and lead your own team to deliver successful business outcomes. Able to balance providing explicit direction with creating a culture of empowerment and autonomy. You will create a co-operative and collaborative culture across your team and the wider department.
- Act as senior decision maker for department, able to deputise for Director of Comms, Content and if required, for Group Director of Consumer Engagement.
- Contribute as part of a senior PR leadership team, taking on wider departmental responsibilities including managing a third party spend budget, and relationships with key agency partners. You will also contribute to the wider Corporate Affairs department as a senior team member.
- Be a key point of contact for internal and external personnel, including Sky UK Content teams, Sky Studios, commissioning, marketing, external production partners and talent representatives. You will have an existing excellent network of contacts and be ready to build new relationships to support you in the role.
- Have a strong interest in the wider Sky business and how Sky fits into the wider TV and entertainment landscape in the UK, Europe and globally.
What you'll bring:
- Highly motivated individual with loads of initiative, who wants to make things happen and is interested in trying out new approaches and working out quickly what does/doesn't work.
- Must have people leadership experience and be motivated by leading a team and delivering great results through others.
- Must have huge passion for the media, entertainment and TV/film sector. Relevant and extensive experience working in these sectors. Min 10 years' experience.
- Fantastic media contacts and ability to foster new and relevant relationships.
- Experience of working with agencies and collaborating effectively for strong results.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Extensive experience of handling issues and crisis, ideally experienced working in similar sector.
