The role requires a motivated professional to project manage small to medium scale capital works projects for the Parks and Conservation Service, develop and implement threatened ecological community and habitat restoration programs, develop and review reserve operation plans, lead the implementation and reporting of the Molonglo Vegetation Condition Monitoring program and provide high-quality conservation advice to the Conservator on Development Applications, Construction Environmental Management Plans and Environmental approvals. The position requires skills in ecology, conservation planning, natural resource management, procurement, project management and stakeholder management to deliver projects and assist other officers and managers within City and Environment Directorate (CED). Eligibility/Other Requirements: Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or natural resource management. Willingness and ability to conduct fieldwork activities including occasionally in uncomfortable weather conditions. ACT Drivers licence and ability to operate a 4WD vehicle with a willingness to attend 4WD training including for recovery operations. Highly desirable: Demonstrated experience using computer applications appropriate to the work area including Microsoft Office suite, Adobe PDF, and Arc GIS. Ability to identify plants of the ACT and region and knowledge of local vegetation communities and ecological values. Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately up until 30 June 2028. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
