The Opportunity
Cadence Connect is partnering with a global mining contractor to appoint a Management Accountant to their site finance team in the Bowen Basin. The position has become available due to an internal promotion, a pattern that runs through this team and one of the reasons this opportunity stands apart.
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, you will join a tight‐knit site finance function and take ownership of cost analysis, EOM and reporting that informs decision‐making at the site leadership level. This is hands‐on, high‐ownership work with genuine exposure to mining operations.
What You Will Do
You will own the cost and reporting cadence for the site, partnering closely with site leadership and the broader finance function.
* Review cost transactions and allocate against approved budgets
* Prepare accruals, journals and reconciliations
* Manage the Project Cost Ledger and present cost and variance analysis monthly
* Own weekly and monthly cost analysis and reporting against deadlines
* Complete monthly fuel & oil reconciliations and FTC reporting in JDE
* Support preparation of the monthly client claim
* Assist with annual budgets, reforecasts and FBT preparation
* Provide mentoring and workflow management to two direct reports
* Partner with site leadership team on budget clarity, financial reporting and forecasting
Who You Are
You will own the cost and reporting cadence for the site, partnering closely with site leadership and the broader finance function.
* CA or CPA qualified, or working towards
* 2+ years of commercial accounting experience, ideally with management accounting exposure
* Construction or mining industry experience highly regarded
* Experience with JDE or a comparable ERP
* Strong Excel
* Resilience, sound judgement and the communication skills to operate effectively within a site leadership team
