The Financial Crime Surveillance team is part of Westpac’s Risk Division and responsible for detecting, deterring and fighting Financial Crime.
Join our Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team and play a pivotal role in protecting our customers and the community. We’re looking for a energetic Team Manager in the Government Notices Unit who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can adapt to change quickly, and is comfortable leading, coaching, and supporting an elite team.
What’s the role?
As Team Manager, you’ll lead a multi-brand team responsible for processing and responding to notice requests from regulators and law enforcement agencies. The team ensures compliance with financial crime regulations, privacy laws, and organisational policies when responding to external requests and notices.
The role combines cultivating talent and coaching analysts to reach their highest potential with working on requests in real time that make a difference and keep our communities safe.
You’ll also:
- Optimise team performance through clear objective setting, coaching, and development.
- Inspire and motivate your team to deliver on vision, strategy, and business objectives.
- Lead by example, managing escalations and supporting your team through change and challenges.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a reference point for internal stakeholders and support the broader Financial Crime team.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What do I need?
Proven experience in leading and supporting teams, including confidently handling escalations and providing guidance through complex situations. You will have a strong background in responding to regulatory notices, assessing and investigating AML, CTF, and sanctions events, with up-to-date legislative knowledge and the ability to make informed recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Experience in supporting analytical work for compliance and risk is essential along with a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to best practice. If you have a law enforcement background or experience working with regulatory notices at another organization or regulatory agencies – this would be advantageous.
