Role
As Assistant Front Office Manager at Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges, you'll be a key leader in one of WA's most iconic hotels – supporting the Front Office Manager to deliver exceptional guest experiences, drive revenue, and develop a high‐performing team. You'll keep the front‐of‐house running smoothly, set the standard for service, and be a visible, energising presence for both guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate day‐to‐day Front Office operations, ensuring service standards, compliance, and financial targets are consistently met.
* Drive revenue performance through active upselling, rate and occupancy management, and a strong sales culture across the team.
* Manage guest complaints and incidents with tact, urgency and genuine care – logging, reporting and resolving effectively.
* Recruit, roster, train and develop Front Office staff; conduct regular performance reviews and keep training records up to date.
* Prepare monthly reports, manage departmental expenses and support financial controls in conjunction with the Financial Controller.
* Partner with Housekeeping, Maintenance and other departments to maintain room and hotel standards.
* Champion WH&S compliance – actively participate in the committee, report all hazards and incidents, and take a lead role in crisis management.
* Keep the team informed and aligned on hotel policies, EVT updates and operational changes through clear, consistent communication.
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience in a Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment.
* Strong people leadership skills – you build trust, develop talent and address underperformance early.
* A commercial mindset with experience driving room revenue, upsell strategies and occupancy outcomes.
* Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with a calm and professional approach under pressure.
* Sound knowledge of hotel systems, financial controls, rostering and compliance requirements.
* Familiarity with liquor licensing requirements and WH&S obligations.
* A genuine passion for guest experience and delivering service that exceeds expectations.
