Electrician - Power Generation Upgrade Programme
Electrician – Take Your Trade Beyond the Workshop
Want to take your trade out of the workshop and into the field?
Join KRSP's Power Generation Upgrade Programme and work across the Kimberley on remote power stations, tackling hands‐on electrical work in locations few get to experience, and playing a key role in delivering reliable power to communities that depend on it every day.
About the role
KRSP is seeking a qualified, skilled, and motivated Electrician to join our Power Generation Upgrade Programme.
Working alongside a Mechanical Fitter/Diesel Fitter, you will be responsible for supporting the removal, refurbishment, installation, testing, and commissioning of power generation assets at isolated diesel power stations throughout the Kimberley.
This role is suited to an Electrician who is comfortable working in remote locations, can operate safely with a high level of independence, and takes pride in delivering reliable electrical works in essential service environments.
If you have had exposure to any of the following, we want to hear from you:
* Diesel power stations or remote power generation systems
* Generator change‐outs, electrical installation, testing, and commissioning
* Control panels, switchboards, cabling, earthing, and electrical protection systems
* Hybrid or stand‐alone power systems
* Working as part of a small crew in isolated locations
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a committed team and make a real difference in the daily lives of the communities KRSP serves.
Key responsibilities of the role
* Undertake electrical disconnection, reconnection, installation, testing, and commissioning works associated with generator replacement projects
* Assist with the removal of existing generator assets and installation of replacement diesel generator units within remote community power stations
* Carry out electrical works associated with generator control systems, switchboards, protection equipment, cabling, earthing, labelling, and ancillary power station infrastructure
* Work closely with Mechanical Fitters/Diesel Fitters to complete generator change‐outs safely and efficiently
* Complete electrical testing, inspection records, commissioning sheets, and other project documentation accurately
* Support fault‐finding and rectification activities during installation and commissioning
* Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety, housekeeping, and compliance while working in remote and isolated environments
* Work with minimal supervision as part of a small team, often in locations with limited support services
Location and roster
This role operates on a drive‐in/drive‐out (DIDO) basis from Broome to remote Kimberley communities.
* Kimberley residents are strongly encouraged to apply
* Candidates willing to relocate to the region are supported
* Fly‐in/fly‐out (FIFO) options are available for applicants outside the Kimberley
Typical roster: 18 days on / 10 days off.
Given the nature and location of KRSP's work, candidates must be flexible with roster cycles, travel requirements, and the demands of working in isolated remote communities.
What you will need
You must demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, safe work practices, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to different situations as they arise.
* Grade A Western Australian Electrical Licence
* Current and valid C Class driver's licence
* Demonstrated experience in electrical installation, testing, and fault‐finding
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
