Mobile Flashbutt Welder
About the role: Join our rail maintenance team supporting heavy haul operations across the Pilbara. You will perform Flashbutt welding, prepare and align rail, complete weld inspections, maintain equipment, and support safe, efficient rail maintenance.
Skills & experience
* Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (minimum)
* Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure (highly desirable)
* Flash Butt Welding qualification (TLIW008 and TLIW0004)
* Demonstrated first attack firefighting equipment skills (CPPFES2005) (highly desirable)
* Full C Class Driving Licence or higher with no restrictions (HR Licence highly desirable)
* Construction Card (white/blue)
* 4WD Training (preferred but not essential)
* Previous experience welding in a rail environment
* Knowledge of welding processes
* Previous exposure to mining or remote work environments (desirable)
* Ability to complete and pass Rail Category 1 Medical, and drug and alcohol testing
Duties & responsibilities
* Prepare, cut, clean and align rail ends for Flashbutt welding, ensuring precision, compliance and safe work practices.
* Operate Mobile Flashbutt Welding equipment to complete rail welds and support rail defect removal across heavy haul rail networks.
* Inspect, trim and grind completed welds to specification, ensuring quality standards and rail tolerances are met.
* Complete weld inspections, maintain accurate documentation and report equipment faults as required.
* Work safely with track crews and maintenance teams, following strict rail safety procedures.
