Level B ($114,917 to $135,932) per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation.

Fixed‑term position available for 53 months.

The ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Radiation Innovation (RadInnovate) is led by The Australian National University (ANU) in collaboration with the University of South Australia (UniSA) and the University of Adelaide (UA). The Training Centre boasts participation from over 16 partners spanning industry and government sectors, including Research and Development Corporations (RDCs), industry representatives, Commonwealth, State, and Territory governments, as well as research and technology organisations.

We are seeking an outstanding applicant with expertise in radiation sciences who will undertake research, education and service (including outreach). The research aspect will include undertaking quality research activities and providing research leadership, supporting the professional development of colleagues and demonstrating a record of research achievement as evidenced by publications, conference papers and other research activities. For the educational part we seek someone with the ability and willingness to assist in supervising students working on research projects.


To Be Successful You Will Need

* A doctoral qualification in radiation‑based physics, radiochemistry, medical radiations or related subjects.
* Advanced skills in radiation science and technology.
* Demonstrated experience in radiation modelling, including Monte Carlo simulations, dosimetry and radiation protection.
* Demonstrated ability and experience in undertaking quality research activities and providing research leadership, including supporting the professional development of colleagues.
* A record of research achievement as demonstrated by publications, conference papers and other research activities such as technical reports to senior government and/or industry, and an ability and commitment to contribute to bids for competitive external funding.
* The ability and willingness to assist in the supervision of students working on research projects.
* The ability to work as part of a team in a cross‑disciplinary academic environment, an awareness or willingness to learn and incorporate the principles of socially responsible research, and an ability to meet deadlines.
* High‑level organisational skills and experience in managing projects with multiple priorities, monitoring workflow and in managing resources to meet objectives, timelines and deadlines.
* Excellent oral and written English language skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of staff and students in a cross‑disciplinary academic environment and to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels.


Desirable Characteristics

* Proven ability to create and foster strong links with relevant industry, business, community and government organisations.
* Evidence of experience relevant to the Training Centre's research areas would be an advantage.
