About the Role
ALS Water offers a casual opportunity as a Sampler joining a close‐knit team in Bairnsdale. The role involves visiting client sites to collect samples efficiently and timely, working outdoors in all weather conditions. It requires confidence working independently while being supported by a team.
Duties
* Sampling of client sites in accordance with client requirements, including on‐site field analyses where applicable.
* Ensuring the appropriate sampling equipment and approved methodology are used to provide a quality service to the clients.
* Optimising turnaround times for samples while maintaining the highest quality sampling protocol.
* Understanding methodology changes that affect sampling operations.
* Maintaining sampling equipment and vehicle in correct condition, clean and tidy.
* Maintaining client relations, scheduling and ensuring sampling times are adhered to.
* Maintaining a professional appearance and equipment presentation in accordance with ALS quality requirements.
* Prioritising samples upon arrival to the laboratory.
* Sorting samples and delivering them to the labs.
* Entering results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Preparing sample bottles.
* Maintaining analytical equipment, including cleaning and calibration.
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant experience in the environmental industry.
* High level of customer service.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Demonstrated attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong quality service approach and positive attitude.
* Problem‐solving and lateral thinking abilities.
* Negotiation and conflict‐resolution skills.
* Ability to spend long periods driving.
* Confidence working around water and ability to swim.
* Knowledge of the operation of small water supplies and treatment plants is desirable.
* Driver's License with confident automatic driving ability.
Eligibility
