About the position
A leadership opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our friendly & supportive team, based in Brisbane (hybrid environment).
As our Senior Financial Accountant, you will be primarily responsible for supporting our Executive Finance & IT Manager to complete the accounting & financial activities for our business. In this role, you will ensure our company fulfils reporting obligations to external parties.
Core accountabilities include:
* Maintain integrity of the general ledger and oversee month-end close process
* Coordinate and prepare group reporting submissions, and reporting to corporate headquarters in accordance with group timelines
* Support external audit process, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor queries
* Compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and taxation requirements
* Operational & Project Support: Partner with the business to assess financial impacts of capital projects and cost control initiatives
* System & Process improvement: Lead initiatives to improve financial systems, reporting automation and process efficiency
About the team
Reporting to the Executive Finance & IT Manager, you will lead a small team of two (Financial Accountant and AP & AR Officer) and work closely with our Management Accountant. You will form part of our wider Broader Leadership Team, with the opportunity to develop as a senior leader within our business.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, with a minimum of 5 years' technical experience
* CA or CPA Qualified
* Familiarity with the new IFRS and AASB accounting standards (e.g. AASB 15 and AASB 16)
* Experience with major ERP systems (JDE, SAP, Oracle, Pronto highly regarded) plus Intermediate/Advanced Excel & Microsoft Office skills
* High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
* Ability to work autonomously and complete tasks with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and work as part of a team
* Highly developed communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders from varying professional backgrounds
* Ability to show initiative and adapt to an evolving environment with resilience
* Experience within a chartered organisation or large ASX or multinational enterprise
* Experience in mining, manufacturing or heavy industries
