Australia's largest bank is building a new eCommerce payments platform — and we're looking for product people who know payments inside out to help us get it right.
Connected Payments
Our next‐generation merchant payment acceptance platform, launching in 2026, is a significant investment to enable businesses to accept payments online. We are looking to grow our product team with depth and expertise to ensure it launches strong and evolves to be the best in market.
The role
Senior Product Manager – eCommerce payments expertise and strategic maturity to shape a major platform. You will not just own a roadmap; you will set the standard for how product is done across the crew.
Do work that matters
* Drive the product vision and roadmap for a significant area of the platform, making complex trade‐off decisions informed by merchant needs, competitive intelligence, scheme roadmaps and commercial opportunity.
* Lead product strategy that differentiates Connected Payments in the Australian market – identifying where we leapfrog, where we match, and where we invest next.
* Set the standard for continuous discovery – embedding experimentation, hypothesis‐driven development and evidence‐based decision‐making into how the crew works.
* Lead the merchant experience lens – aligning customer journeys, user research and feedback loops with team priorities and stakeholder needs.
* Elevate payments expertise across the crew – coaching others on scheme economics, checkout dynamics, settlement flows and the broader eCommerce ecosystem.
* Translate commercial opportunity into product decisions – determining ROI, shaping pricing inputs and linking feature investment to merchant activation, revenue and competitive positioning.
* Lead in a complex regulated environment – advising on scheme compliance, regulatory obligations and operational risk, and presenting to governance forums and senior leadership.
* Collaborate across cross‐functional squads including Technology, Risk, Operations, Go‐to‐Market, Sales Enablement and Customer teams.
* Measure what matters – approval rates, checkout conversion, merchant NPS, activation and revenue – and use it to influence prioritisation and investment decisions.
We're Interested In Hearing From People Who Have
* Deep eCommerce payments expertise – you've lived this space for years and understand how online payments work end‐to‐end, from checkout through authorisation, clearing and settlement.
* Scheme and network fluency – Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, Amex – including interchange, tokenisation, 3DS and how they impact merchants.
* Significant gateway, acquirer, processor or payment orchestration platform experience – from a product management perspective, with a track record of shaping product direction.
* Proven product leadership – you've owned and evolved a product roadmap, driven strategic prioritisation and influenced senior stakeholders with compelling performance insights and commercial reasoning.
* Advanced discovery and experimentation capability – you embed hypothesis‐driven development and evidence‐based decisions into team ways of working.
* Strong customer and user experience orientation – you align customer journeys with team and stakeholder needs and ensure user research is woven into the product development process.
* Comfort leveraging AI and data tools to support product decisions and ways of working.
* Awareness of the competitive landscape – you stay across what global and local PSPs are doing, and you have a view on what matters.
* Advanced regulatory and governance capability – you can advise on compliance obligations, present to governance forums and coach others on the regulatory environment.
* Confidence leading through ambiguity – you make timely decisions when information is incomplete and role‐model adaptability for others.
Risk mindset
All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks. In this role, a strong risk mindset means you instil a culture of risk awareness across the team – proactively identifying and managing scheme, regulatory and operational risks, implementing controls and ensuring the crew learns from incidents and near‐misses.
