The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant (SNEA), you will ideally, under limited supervision and guidance from the Learning Support Team, perform tasks that require discretion and judgement to assist students in achieving their full potential. We strive for an inclusive school environment that caters for students with a diverse range of support needs both academically and socially.
Responsibilities
* Support students and classes across a wide range of curriculum areas and departments within the school.
* Work in the STRIVE classroom, supporting approximately 30 students with additional needs, or be placed in a mainstream classroom to support 1 or 2 specific children.
* Collaborate with teachers to scaffold the curriculum and provide feedback on Teaching and Learning Adjustments.
* Demonstrate a positive attitude, initiative and flexibility to produce the best opportunities for students.
* Assist teachers and therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
Eligibility
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

* Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programmes.
* Good organisational skills to support the delivery and development of effective education programmes.
* Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
* Ability to assist with the general health and well‐being of students.
