Permanent Part time role - 32 hours per week, Charlestown, Newcastle location
At New Horizons, our core values of Passion, Integrity, and Respect drive everything we do. We measure success not only by what our people achieve but also by how they achieve it. To support this, we have a Code of Conduct and Policies and Procedures that everyone is expected to follow.
About the role
As a Recovery Coach/Support Coordinator, you'll play a unique and rewarding dual role, supporting participants while working collaboratively across teams including Customer Service, Product, Business Assurance, People Excellence, Finance, and Peer Work Coordinators. You'll be part of our Support Coordination Team — a passionate group who connect people with an NDIS plan to the right supports and services. Often the first point of contact for participants, families, and other Support Coordinators, you'll help shape meaningful first impressions of New Horizons and guide people toward the supports that will make a real difference in their lives.
Key Responsibilities
* Make a meaningful impact every day by working across both Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching.
* Support people living with psychosocial disability to live full, meaningful, and self‐directed lives.
* Empower customers to build confidence, navigate complexities, and take control of their day‐to‐day life.
* Take ownership of your work by planning and managing your caseload, working toward KPIs, and celebrating progress while proactively addressing challenges.
* Contribute to team success by supporting key projects and initiatives that improve outcomes for customers.
* Manage expenditure responsibly within your delegation, ensuring compliance while supporting participant needs.
Skills and Experience
We're looking for someone who brings both capability and heart, including:
* A willingness to learn, grow and engage in mentoring opportunities.
* The ability to navigate change with confidence, adapting to new ways of working.
* A sound understanding of Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching within the NDIS framework.
* Strong experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, with knowledge of relevant legislation and service standards.
* The confidence to draw on your lived or living experience of mental health in a purposeful and supportive way.
* Resilience and creativity — someone who can think differently, solve problems, and stay grounded under pressure.
* Excellent communication and relationship‐building skills, with the ability to connect authentically with customers and colleagues.
* Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office to manage reporting and documentation.
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
* Relevant qualifications in peer work or mental health (minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or Mental Health), or equivalent training such as Intentional Peer Support.
* At least two years' experience in a mental health‐related role.
* Current checks, including Police Check (within 3 months), NSW Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening.
* A valid NSW Driver's Licence, with confidence driving a range of vehicles including larger cars or vans.
Benefits
* Salary packaging of up to $15,900+ in tax‐free pay.
* Fitness Passport: Affordable access to gyms and fitness centres.
* Utilise our Employee Assistance Program providing counselling services.
* Support in growing your career through mentoring and professional development opportunities.
