Overview
We are offering three Section 50(d) positions (two Female, one Male) on a 3‐year fixed term contract to support conservation and cultural heritage protection on Noongar Land Estate and other tenures. The role includes salary packaging up to $15,899 per year plus a meal/entertainment benefit of $2,650 per year. Additional benefits include 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% loading, Christmas shutdown period credited as additional leave, an employee assistance program, 10 days Noongar cultural leave per year, 5 days compassionate leave per occasion, and 7 weeks LSL vested at 7 years continuous service. This position offers a mentored employment and training pathway, with training in Certificate II, III and IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management at Southwest Regional TAFE.
Location
Manjimup, with regular travel throughout the Karri Karrak region.

Job Responsibilities
* Participate in development programs and applied learning in the field to acquire knowledge and skills linked to nationally recognised units of competency in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
* Participate in cultural activities relating to Aboriginal heritage.
* Monitor threatened fauna and flora populations and ecological communities.
* Assist in activities related to the protection of threatened fauna, including captive breeding programmes, translocations and other associated activities.
* Monitor and control feral animal species.
* Assist in research and monitoring of peatland ecosystems.
* Undertake weed management activities.
* Assist in cultural heritage surveys and the protection of cultural heritage sites.
* Assist in erosion control, particularly at key cultural sites.
* Assist in the maintenance of mechanical equipment, including small motors, pumps, generators and 4WD vehicles.
* Undertake other duties as directed.
Essential Selection Criteria
* Aboriginality under Section 50(d); preference given to individuals connected to the Agreement Group Area where the position is located.
* Interest or experience in working on Country and capability to participate in manual activities related to cultural heritage protection, conservation programmes and land management initiatives.
* Willingness to pursue nationally recognised units of competency in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a small, dynamic team.
* Literacy and numeracy skills, including the ability to read and understand maps and apply relevant procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
* Willingness and ability to work away from home, including occasional weekend and irregular hours.
* Willingness to wear prescribed safety equipment and to work safely with chemicals.
* Respect for different cultures and fairness in treatment of all staff and members of the public.
* Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
Desirable Selection Criteria
* Experience operating equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters and common maintenance tools.
* Physically fit for on‐ground operational works, including rehabilitation, erosion control, revegetation and fencing.
* Qualifications and experience related to the operation of machinery and plant.
* Background in natural resource management or a related field.
* HR driver's licence.
