The Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support the preparation of competitive tenders for transmission line and power infrastructure projects across Australia.
This role will suit candidates with estimating experience in transmission, utilities, renewable energy, or large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop first-principles estimates for HV transmission projects (greenfield, brownfield, upgrades) and benchmark against subcontract pricing
* Analyse drawings, specs, geotech, and environmental inputs to identify risks/opportunities
* Quantify towers, foundations, conductors, OPGW/OHEW, insulators, hardware, access, clearing, and rehab
* Build and validate labour, plant, material, and subcontract rates; factor regional, EBA, and outage constraints
* Work with construction teams to define build approach, productivity, and program impacts
* Lead risk reviews, apply contingencies, and identify value engineering opportunities
* Manage RFQs, assess bids, and negotiate commercially
* Attend briefings, site visits, and present estimates internally and externally
* Transition estimates clearly to delivery teams
* Maintain cost databases; use Expert Estimation, Candy (or similar) and advanced Excel
About You
* Experience: 4+ years estimating HV transmission lines
* Technical: Strong knowledge of line components, construction methods, and standards (AS/NZS 7000, IEC, IEEE, ENA, utilities)
* Commercial: Proven success in competitive tenders across EPC, D&C, or construct-only models
* Qualifications: Engineering, Construction Management, or QS degree preferred
* Skills:
o Advanced Excel + estimating software
o Ability to interpret drawings, PLS-CADD, and programs (Primavera P6, Tilos, MS Project)
o Strong negotiation and written communication
