Abacus Educational Suppliers is a long-established Australian supplier of educational curriculum resources, supplying schools, educators and families across Australia. We are seeking an experienced and reliable Purchasing / Accounts Payable Officer to join our team full time at our Osborne Park office. This is a varied hands‐on role with a strong focus on purchasing, supplier coordination and inventory‐related administration, together with accounts payable and general office support responsibilities within a small team environment.
About the Role
This position is full‐time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and is office based.
Key Responsibilities
* Local and overseas purchasing
* Processing and managing purchase orders using the company WMS
* Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, stock availability and delivery schedules
* Monitoring and expediting backorders and resolving supply issues proactively
* Maintaining accurate supplier and pricing data
* Accounts payable processing (including end‐to‐end process incorporating purchase orders, receiving dockets and supplier invoice matching / 3‐way matching)
* Organising trade finance payments for overseas suppliers and understanding/working with FX (foreign currency) transactions
* Monthly supplier statement reconciliations
* Payment scheduling and processing, including assistance with cash flow projections
* Assisting customers with delivery enquiries
* Assisting with end‐of‐month accounting tasks including journals
* Reconciling sales clearance accounts including PayPal, Braintree and merchant facilities
* Maintaining office and staff amenity supplies
* General administrative and ad‐hoc office duties
* Assisting walk‐in customers from time to time
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar purchasing/accounts payable role
* Experience using MYOB
* Experience working with stock or warehouse management systems (WMS)
* Overseas purchasing, FX or trade finance highly regarded
* Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail
* Good organisational and time‐management skills
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Strong communication skills and a professional manner
* Willingness to assist across different areas of the business when required
