Buru Rehab is a majority Indigenous‑owned and operated mine rehabilitation, earthworks and site‑services business formed in early 2022. Our team brings deep experience, strong cultural knowledge, and a shared commitment to Healing Country and improving Aboriginal social outcomes.
Since our inception, we have proudly employed more than 180 local and Indigenous people, delivering rehabilitation works on Country, for Country throughout Western Australia. We are seeking an experienced General Manager, someone who has already operated at GM level in a complex, multi‑disciplinary environment to lead our operational, financial, HSEQT, and people functions and to help shape Buru’s strategic direction as we continue to grow.
We are looking for a proven senior leader with a strong track record of delivering results at executive level.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the General Manager provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership across the business.
You will:
* Lead the development and execution of Buru’s strategic and business plans
* Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, commercial reporting, and cost control
* Provide hands‑on operational oversight across rehabilitation projects and head office functions
* Lead HSEQT to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and ISO 9001/14001/45001/55001
* Strengthen systems, governance, and organisational capability
* Build strong relationships with clients, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal corporations, and community partners
* The role requires regular travel to project sites across Western Australia to support operational performance, client engagement, and HSEQT leadership
Key Responsibilities
* Provide executive leadership across operations, finance, HSEQT, and people
* Lead the development and execution of Buru’s strategic and business plans
* Oversee financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial reporting
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and ISO 9001/14001/45001/55001
* Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement
* Ensure rehabilitation works meet quality, environmental, and cultural expectations
* Build strong relationships with clients, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal corporations, and community partners
* Represent Buru in tenders, negotiations, and external engagements
* Travel to site regularly to support operational and HSEQT leadership
About You
* Proven experience as a General Manager or equivalent senior executive
* Strong commercial and financial management capability
* Experience in rehabilitation, resources, construction, civil, earthworks, or project‑based operations
* Deep understanding of WHS, ISO, and compliance frameworks
* Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning and organisational growth
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
* Commitment to culturally respectful practice and supporting Aboriginal employment pathways
* Willingness and ability to travel to site regularly
