ABOUT THE ROLE...
Do you thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong sense of responsibility, and want to play a vital role in one of Australia’s largest open-range safari parks? Monarto Safari Park is seeking a dedicated Duty Manager in a permanent part-time capacity (0.4FTE) to be the front line of operational excellence and emergency response at our world-class visitor destination.
As Duty Manager, you’ll be the go-to leader overseeing day-to-day park operations, based at our bustling Visitor Centre. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the park runs smoothly, responding to urgent issues, coordinating with emergency services, and supporting staff and guests alike.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure all operational aspects of the park are running efficiently and safely.
* Be the first point of contact for emergency response, liaising with SAPOL, CFS, Ambulance, and other services.
* Coordinate and manage any incidents involving staff or visitors.
* Escalate emergency, customer service, or animal-related matters per Monarto’s Emergency Fire Safety Control Plans.
* Provide support and guidance to staff, volunteers, and work experience students.
* Oversee the smooth operation of the Visitor Centre and ensure a high level of visitor satisfaction.
* Uphold workplace health and safety procedures and compliance.
* Complete routine administrative duties, including end-of-day Duty Manager reports.
ABOUT YOU...
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated strong leadership and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
* Ability to remain calm and think clearly in high-pressure situations.
* A proactive, hands-on approach and a collaborative mindset.
* Skilled in building positive client relationships and resolving issues effectively.
* Skilled at maintaining focus and efficiency during periods of intense activity and high demand.
* Experience in emergency response or operational coordination (preferred)
* Knowledge of conservation and environmental issues and the demonstrated capacity to apply this knowledge in a visitor focused setting (desirable).
* Small Passenger Vehicle Driver’s Accreditation or willingness to obtain (desirable).
Essential Criteria
* Possess the ability to deal with a wide range of people, visitors, volunteers and staff.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
* Well-developed techniques in conflict resolution.
* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with internal and external customers,
* Ability to complete Zoos SA Duty Manager training.
* Senior First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain.
* Working with Children Check.
