The Role As an Automation Specialist, you will report to the Technical Home Underwriting Manager. Your primary purpose is to:
Identify, design, develop and implement automation solutions that target processes generating manual referrals.
Significantly reduce underwriting referral volumes through automated decision‑making criteria and data processing.
Improve consistency and accuracy of underwriting decisions by applying automated rules and workflows that adhere to risk appetite and policy guidelines.
Empower underwriters by streamlining routine tasks, enabling them to focus on complex cases and strategic risk assessment.
Accountabilities
Automation Solution Delivery
– Work with Underwriting SMEs to identify and document processes for automation, design, develop, test and deploy scalable solutions that meet performance, accuracy and security standards.
Referral Reduction & Efficiency Improvement
– Address root causes of referrals, monitor impact on volumes, processing times and accuracy, and optimise automated processes for resilience.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
– Gather requirements, liaise with IT, Data Science and other teams, and clearly communicate progress and challenges.
Documentation & Best Practices
– Maintain documentation, follow development standards and governance frameworks, and stay updated on emerging automation technologies.
Qualifications & Experience
3+ years proven experience in designing, developing and implementing automation solutions using UiPath or a similar RPA tool.
Strong proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, VB.NET, C#). Ability to manipulate data, integrate APIs and develop custom solutions.
Demonstrated ability to analyse complex business processes, identify inefficiencies and translate requirements into technical specifications.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a methodical approach to root‑cause analysis.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Experience collaborating with business users and technical teams to deliver successful outcomes.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Analytics or equivalent experience.
Previous experience within the insurance industry, especially underwriting, policy administration or claims management.
Familiarity with underwriting referral triggers and decision‑making logic.
Relevant certifications in RPA platforms, Lean Six Sigma, Agile methodologies or business analysis.
Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and solid understanding of data structures, modelling and database concepts.
