The opportunity
As our Manager – Tax Controversy, you will advise clients on a broad range of tax matters with a focus on the technical and tactical management of ATO reviews and engagement. You will also have the chance to shape and drive your career through our comprehensive development programs to help you be the best version of yourself, both inside and outside of work. This role can be performed from our offices in Warrang – Sydney, Naarm – Melbourne, or Meanjin – Brisbane, with potential flexible working arrangements.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Advise clients, from large corporates to high-net-worth individuals, on tax strategies and solutions.
* Research various tax matters including tax administration and international tax issues.
* Participate in dispute resolution processes and assist clients during ATO reviews and audits.
* Draft documents such as objections, private binding ruling requests, and submissions regarding penalties.
* Collaborate with partners and staff across geographies to maintain connectivity.
What We Look For
* Law degree and admission to practice law in Australia with 5+ years PQE.
* Strong technical and legal research skills in tax.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage multiple clients and stakeholders within deadlines.
Preferred but not mandatory: experience in tax advisory or controversy in a Big 4 or law firm, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn.
