Job Summary
We are looking for a lifestyle-focused journalist to join Domain's national news team, working closely with the Lifestyle Editor and the broader news team. This role sits at the intersection of property news and lifestyle storytelling, covering everything from first‐hand buyer and seller experiences and what homeowners want and need, to interior trends, suburb profiles and standout property listings. This is a digital‐first role, but one that also works closely with the magazine team, contributing lifestyle‐led property content that translates seamlessly across platforms. You will contribute to major editorial projects and campaigns, including The Block and Open Homes, and be someone who can respond quickly to briefs while also delivering thoughtful, creative and engaging lifestyle‐led property stories for a diverse audience. This is a fast‐paced role suited to an agile, curious, and versatile journalist with a strong interest in the property market and the ability to move easily between planned features and reactive content.
Position can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office.
Responsibilities
* Generate and proactively pitch unique story ideas and cover a broad range of topics
* Jump on breaking news if required and file to tight deadlines but generally work ahead of time
* Analyse and interpret property data reports when required for story ideas
* Production work including supporting the content team on article building, image sourcing and input into the Wordpress CMS
* Work with and build upon a network of editorial contacts
* Work cross‐functionally with the social, video, magazines and commercial news teams to ideate on cross‐platform content (opportunity to appear on‐camera work via social media)
Experience
* Demonstrated journalism experience, preferably within a digital newsroom environment where breaking news was required
* Track record of producing clean, accurate and thoughtful copy with minimal editing required
* Generating and pitching original story ideas
* Writing across a range of topics at varied paces, showing a clear curiosity for trends, new angles and creative thinking

Education & Qualifications
* 2-5 years' experience, with experience in a newsroom
* University‐level degree in journalism/communications
* Knowledge of, or an interest in, the Australian property market
