Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are seeking an experienced and driven Production Superintendent to join our leadership team at Callide Power Stations. This is a pivotal operational role, responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Callide B and C.
You will lead frontline operational teams, including Shift Supervisors, to ensure generation targets are consistently achieved while maintaining a strong culture of safety, compliance, and performance.
As a member of the broader site leadership team, you will play a critical role in coordinating daily operations, managing risk, and fostering a high‐performing and inclusive workplace culture. The role will see you working closely with maintenance, engineering, and other support functions to deliver operational excellence through effective planning, communication, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage shift operations teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of generating units and ancillary plant.
* Provide strategic direction and operational oversight to meet generation, safety, environmental, and budgetary targets.
* Coordinate shift activities across departments and functions to maintain smooth and effective operations.
* Identify and manage operational risks, ensuring strong controls and compliance with statutory and company safety requirements.
* Oversee incident response and ensure timely reporting, including accurate shift logs and effective handovers.
* Support the development and execution of risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.
* Monitor plant performance and operational metrics to identify and act on improvement opportunities.
* Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve performance issues and optimise plant reliability.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance plant performance.
This is a permanent, full‐time position at Callide Power Station.
About You
You are a proven operational leader with deep knowledge of power generation or heavy industry operations. With a strong safety mindset and excellent communication skills, you thrive in high‐performance environments and have a track record of leading teams to deliver results.
* Mechanical and / or electrical trade or similar aptitude
* Advanced boiler and turbine operator certification is desirable
* Business Management or relevant tertiary qualifications would be advantageous
* Relatable skills to large scale thermal power plant processes with a minimum of 10 years operations experience
* Previous supervisory experience is essential
* Experience and demonstrated success in a key leadership role
* Demonstrated knowledge of complex infrastructure and process systems
* Leadership behaviours that support a constructive culture
* Experience in using SAP or other business processes/tools to enable delivery of effective reporting on key section deliverables
* Comprehensive understanding of permit to work systems
* Understanding and commitment to Operation's Process Safety Management
* Understanding works management processes
