Executive Director, Operations, SNSWLHD – NSW Health
The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) seeks an experienced executive leader to serve as Executive Director, Operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the role is second-in-charge for the district and leads operations across 11 hospitals, two community health facilities, and a range of district services.
Responsibilities
Lead operations across 11 hospitals, 2 community health facilities, and a range of district services in regional NSW.
Drive strategic transformation, financial turnaround, and major capital works including the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital.
Champion innovation, workforce culture, and patient-centred care.
Oversee clinical, physical, human, and financial resources for inpatient and community health.
Develop and implement a three-year financial turnaround plan, managing a $380 million operational budget and overseeing more than $400 million in capital works.
Ensure clinical governance systems meet national standards and lead performance improvement programmes.
Engage clinicians, community stakeholders, and government agencies to deliver sustainable organisational outcomes.
Qualifications & Competencies
Proven executive leadership experience in large, complex health service and hospital environments, preferably with regional or rural exposure.
Track record of managing large budgets and driving major capital works.
Strong strategic planning, performance management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to build high-performing teams, develop executive capability, and lead continuous improvement agendas.
Experience fostering a culture of collaboration, openness, respect, and empowerment (CORE values).
Location:
Queanbeyan, New South Wales (travel across the district)
Compensation:
$298,631 – $336,050 per annum (Health Service senior executive Band 2)
