Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Officer - Trainee to support the delivery of human resources and workforce services across the organisation while developing practical skills and experience in a local government environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Human Resources & Safety, this part‐time trainee position provides supervised support across a range of human resources functions, including recruitment, administration, HR systems, learning management, and general HR operations.

This role is ideal for someone looking to commence or continue a career in Human Resources, with on‐the‐job training, mentoring, and exposure to a broad range of HR activities within a supportive team environment.

What We Offer

This role is initially part‐time, with potential to transition to full‐time following the 3‐month probation period for the right candidate.

* Part‐Time - Stream A Level 1–2 – $56,548 – $63,982 per annum (full‐time equivalent), pro‐rata for part‐time hours + Superannuation.
* 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading, pro‐rata)
* Personal (Sick) Leave
* Locality Allowance (where applicable)
* Remote Area Housing Allowance (as applicable)

Key Responsibilities (Not Limited To)

* Assist the HR team with recruitment and onboarding activities, including reference checks, interviews, contracts and police checks.
* Provide administrative support across human resources and workplace health and safety functions.
* Maintain accurate HR records and data across HR, learning management, safety, and payroll systems.
* Assist in preparing correspondence, reports, and HR documentation.
* Participate in meetings and escalate queries or issues to the HR Coordinator or Manager as required.
* Undertake general administrative duties in line with the needs of the HR Department.

About You

* A strong interest in Human Resources and local government.
* Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Basic computer skills and willingness to learn HR systems and processes.
* Well‐developed communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* A proactive and reliable approach to work and learning.
