Senior Social Worker – Complex Mortality & Bereavement Support Officer
Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced Social Work assessment, intervention and support to patients, families and carers experiencing complex bereavement and mortality‐related matters.
* Support families and next of kin through coronial processes, funeral arrangements and sensitive deceased patient management matters.
* Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies and government stakeholders including the Coroners Court of Queensland, Queensland Police Service and Funeral Directors.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and evidence‐based clinical practice within Clinical Governance.
* Assist with mortality review processes, compliance reporting, Ryan's Rule and Open Disclosure activities.
* Provide supervision, education and guidance to less experienced clinicians, students and Allied Health Assistants.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive the transition toward a more digitally enabled service.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience delivering high‐level Social Work services within a hospital or healthcare setting.
* Strong knowledge of bereavement support, deceased patient management and complex family dynamics.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise sensitively with families, clinicians and external stakeholders.
* The ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound clinical judgement with a high level of independence.
* Experience contributing to quality improvement, service development and evidence‐based practice initiatives.
* Proven capability to provide supervision, mentoring and support to clinicians and students.
* Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
