Sandman Electrical Service – Stake Hill WA
Sandman Electrical Service is seeking an experienced Communications Technician / Fibre Splicer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fibre optic networks across commercial and infrastructure projects, with majority of our work being around regional WA. This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and delivering reliable network performance.
Responsibilities
* Perform fusion splicing, termination, and testing of fibre optic cables
* Install fibre cabling, pits, conduits, racks, and enclosures
* Read and interpret splice matrices, drawings, and schematics
* Conduct OTDR, light source and power meter testing
* Troubleshoot faults and carry out fibre repairs to restore service
* Prepare and maintain accurate test results and splice records
* Ensure all works comply with industry standards and safety requirements
* Liaise with supervisors, clients, and other trades on‐site
Qualifications
* Proven experience in fibre splicing and telecommunications works
* Strong knowledge of fibre optic systems, installation, and testing
* Ability to read and interpret plans and network diagrams
* Experience using fusion splicers, OTDR, and fibre testing equipment
* Strong fault‐finding and problem‐solving ability
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* White Card
* Current Driver's Licence
* Fibre optic certification (FOA or equivalent – desirable)
Additional Requirements
* WA 'A' Grade Electrical Licence (provisional considered)
* Current CPR / LV Rescue
* Current WA Driver's Licence (HR Highly Desirable)
* Current Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
* Must be able to pass pre‐employment medical including ongoing monthly Drug & Alcohol Testing
* High level of quality of workmanship and attention to detail
* Team player with a commitment to safety
* Excellent communication skills
* Physically fit
* Electricians with a positive attitude, good hand skills and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

* Split System ticket advantageous, or willingness to obtain
* HV Switching Ticket + Underground Experience
