Volunteer Tutor – Read Write Now
Do you believe everyone deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive? Join Read Write Now, a community‐based program helping adults build confidence in reading, writing, spelling, maths, digital literacy, and study skills.
Responsibilities
As a volunteer tutor, you'll work one‐on‐one with an adult learner, supporting them in a practical, respectful, and empowering way.
You'll meet with your student once a week for about an hour and a half in a public venue such as a library or community centre, creating a safe and encouraging space where learning feels achievable.
What We're Looking For
No teaching experience required – just good communication skills, solid literacy, and a caring, patient approach.
Commitment
* Regular – more than 6 months
* Try to commit to at least 12 months; continuous months not required
Time Required
Tutors and students meet for one and a half hours each session.
Training and Support
* A free 4‐day training course (held over two weekends in regional WA or four Saturdays in Perth)
* Ongoing support from local tutor groups and the Central Office
* A National Police Check (fully paid for by the program)
* Access to resources and professional development
