About the Group

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Associate to join our Digital Economy team to provide expert advice to our Corporate and Government clients. You will act as a subject matter expert, leading and contributing to a variety of transactional and advisory matters across technology, communications, digital commerce, intellectual property, privacy, data protection, cyber risk, and complex commercial transactions.

Our Digital Economy team is part of our Corporate group, which operates across industries and borders advising private and public businesses, government and a diverse client base to solve complex legal issues.

About the Role

* Deliver strategic legal advice and support on outsourcing, managed services, procurement of technology solutions, cloud and as-a-service arrangements, and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.
* Advise on the commercialisation and protection of intellectual property and data assets and manage data breach responses and cyber risk.
* Guide clients through contract tendering, procurement, and negotiation processes, and provide counsel on Australian Consumer Law matters.
* Engage extensively with clients to ensure their legal and commercial needs are met.
* Draft, review, and analyse legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
* Champion innovative approaches to legal service delivery, both internally and externally.
* Collaborate with senior practitioners and work closely with team members across the practice.
* Mentor and coach lawyers to support their professional development, including assisting graduates during their rotations.
* Build and nurture strong client relationships and actively develop your business development skills.

About You

* A tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for the relevant jurisdiction
* Suitable applicants will possess a minimum of 5 years post-admission experience (PAE) in front-end legal work relevant to this position.
* Advanced critical reasoning and investigative skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve complex issues
* Demonstrate advanced legal drafting abilities and attention to detail
* Proficiency in effective and timely file management, as well as billing processes
* A strong customer service ethos, ensuring clients' needs are prioritised
* Proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships, including earning the trust of key stakeholders
* Outstanding influencing and negotiation skills, complemented by strong verbal and written communication abilities.
* Proven experience, strong interest, and confidence in identifying and cultivating business opportunities
* Highly organised, with proven skills in planning and prioritising work to meet deadlines
* Confidence in facilitating presentations and meetings of varying sizes
* Willingness to challenge the status quo and provide practical, innovative solutions
* Strong awareness of risk, with strict adherence to group risk management protocols
* Commercial mindset and pragmatic approach to legal practice
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and skill development
* Demonstrate independence in problem-solving and apply sound judgment, with an awareness of when it is appropriate to escalate issues.
