Overview
We're looking for a Project Engineer - Electrical & Control to join our Gladstone operations team. This is a hands-on project delivery role where you'll take ownership of capital projects valued between $100K and $5M, integrating electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across a complex heavy industrial site. You\'ll work closely with project managers, area managers, maintenance teams, and external specialists to bring projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
Responsibilities
* Own the full lifecycle of capital projects ($100K - $5M) from early planning through delivery, maintaining safety, quality, budget, and timelines
* Collaborate with project owners, engineers, and area managers to define success criteria for electrical and control systems
* Act as the go-to person for contractor safety on site with direct oversight of work in hazardous areas
* Maintain hazardous area compliance for assigned sectors, keep registers up to date, and address issues promptly
* Coordinate contractors and specialist trades to ensure the right people are in the right place and work meets standards
* Facilitate smooth handovers to maintenance with complete documentation (drawings, manuals, certifications, etc.)
* Participate in commissioning by overseeing programming, testing, and tuning to ensure systems operate as intended before handover
* Keep site compliance documentation current and contribute to change management and project governance processes
Qualifications
* A degree in Electrical Engineering
* Solid experience in heavy industrial or mining environments across electrical systems from high to low voltage
* Track record of managing capital projects ($100K - $5M), including integration of electrical and control system elements
* Hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA systems (e.g., Schneider, Rockwell), including programming and troubleshooting
* Strong understanding of hazardous area requirements and on-site compliance
* Experience designing and commissioning electrical assets such as transformers and switchgear
* Comfortable working with AutoCAD drawings
* EEHA certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Project management qualification or equivalent real-world experience
* Unrestricted Australian Electrical Licence or RPEQ registration
