About The Department
As part of the Queensland Government's Student Wellbeing Workforce, we aim to ensure every Queensland state school student has access to a wellbeing professional. The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students.

We are recruiting wellbeing professionals to work in state schools with vacancies in the Metropolitan North region.
About The Role
There is four (4) positions available:
* Temporary Part-time 0.4FTE until 19 October 2025
* Temporary Part-time 0.5FTE until 02 April 2026
* Temporary Part-time 0.4FTE until 26 June 2026
* Temporary Part-time 0.6FTE until 26 June 2026
Responsibilities Include
* Undertake individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents and families to assist them in resolving mental health concerns.
* Administer specialised psycho-educational assessment of students with learning and/or adjustment difficulties including assessments of cognitive, academic, behavioural, emotional, social and adaptive functioning.
* Identify needs and participate in the referral, coordination and planning of services for children, parents and families with other stakeholders including community agencies such as health and welfare.
* Coordinate or assist in the implementation of specific professional in-service training programs for teachers, parents, schools and other professionals, both within and outside the department, for example - Supporting students' mental health and wellbeing.
* Develop and/or maintain appropriate data collection, interpretation procedures and confidential record keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for psychological services in line with department procedures and policies.
The School-based Psychologist reports to the base school Principal for operational and administrative matters. They report to regional Senior Advisor/s, Psychology and/or Senior Psychologists the for all professional practice and clinical matters.

* Ability to work autonomously and as part of school and multi-disciplinary teams.
* Clinical, problem solving and reasoning skills for working with young people and their families.
* Strong communication skills for therapeutic intervention and liaising with stakeholders.
* Effective supervision and leadership skills to support other clinicians and lead teams.
